September 30 is recognized as International Podcast Day around the world. It is an international celebration of the power of podcast. We had the opportunity to speak with Raysean Ricks, the current host of In the Wild podcast for Augusta University.
Raysean Ricks is an alumni of Augusta University and received his degree in communications. While he was a student he served as the president of the Student Government Association. Currently, he is a writer for the Division of Communications and Marketing at Augusta University.
As a former student and now an employee, Ricks offers a unique perspective. He helped launch the In the Wild podcast in the spring of 2020 and is the current host. “Working on the podcast has given me the opportunity to interact with the various departments in a different way than when I was a student. I am still able to help the university grow and help other students. Working on this podcast has been a passion project and fun to work on”, Ricks said.
The In the Wild podcast conducts Interviews with students and staff on campus. “The podcast is a platform for students to know what’s happening on campus. It’s the central go to spot for students”, Ricks said.
“I was inspired to start this project, because podcasts are an emerging platform. You can engage intimately without investing too much”, Ricks said.
There are several topics that are discussed on In the Wild , such as news, events, topics that impact the community, and even some difficult conversations.
Listen to In the Wild now on Apple, Spotify, or Google Play.
