Maggie Chang is originally from Augusta, GA. She is a nursing major and aspires to work as a trauma nurse.
She was inspired to become a nurse after witnessing how her grandfather was treated when he had a coronary bypass. “My grandfather had a coronary bypass and the care and compassion he received from his nurses made me want to pursue this career path. I wanted to use my talents and strengths to do the same for other people.” She has experience working in the trauma center and is very grateful for this experience because she knows what to expect and is excited by her future career.
In addition to studying to become a nurse, Maggie is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She has held positions, such as Judicial Chair and Chaplain. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Maggie was also crowned the 2019 Homecoming Duchess. “My sorority actually nominated me for Duchess. I received a lot of encouragement and support from my dad and stepmom throughout the process. When my name got called at the coronation it was like boom! I started crying. It was a really sweet experience. Winning made me feel like everything was ok. I didn’t know Zatrick, the 2019 Duke, at the time but we became good friends.”
In addition to studying, being a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and the National Honor Society, Maggie works as a pre-school teacher, is involved in her church and enjoys volunteering.
