Jags Live Well: New website launches for student wellness

Students are constantly busy with class, studying, work, and the day-to-day grind of being in college. The Augusta University Division of Enrollment & Student Affairs has partnered with our Student Wellness Programs to launch Jags Live Well – a new initiative for our students featuring a holistic wellness concept that promotes being healthy in every dimension of life.

The Jags Live Well website was launched in October 2020 and features resources for students that focus on eight core wellness approaches: Emotional, Physical, Financial, Occupational, Spiritual, Intellectual, Social, and Environmental. The project is a student-led initiative from Dorothy Elangwe, Mahadia Islam, and Logan VanPutte.

“The Jags Live Well website was created because of the need for a digital interface that focuses on the holistic wellbeing of our students here at Augusta University,” Islam said. “Samantha Denson, our Wellness Coordinator, and the Student Wellness Programs team designed the website under the guidance of Dr. (Scott) Wallace and I was fortunate to be a part of that process. Our hope is that students can use this website to improve their holistic wellbeing and better their college experience.”

Each dimension of wellness affects your overall quality of life and striving for holistic wellness will help you achieve all of your goals. Student Wellness Programs are here to help students work toward a longer, healthier, and happier life by finding balance in all the factors that contribute to overall wellness.

“The Jags Live Well project and its new website is important because it helps connect students at Augusta University to one location where they can access information and resources related to the eight dimensions of wellness: Emotional Wellness, Physical Wellness, Financial Wellness, Occupational Wellness, Spiritual Wellness, Intellectual Wellness, Social Wellness, and Environmental Wellness,” VanPutte said.

SWP works together with several campus and community partners to provide AU students with a variety programs, services, and resources to promote student success, resilience, engagement, and well-being. While well-being means something different to everyone, students are invited to explore the various dimensions of wellness to discover how they can cultivate holistic well-being in their personal journey.
