Janice DeLoach is an Associate Director of IT at Augusta University. Her mom used to work for IT as well, until she retired back in 2009.
She has been a part of Augusta University since 1998, beginning as a student assistant in IT. She received her bachelors in Management Information Systems in 2008. Once she completed her bachelors she went on to further her education and get her masters in Information Security Management and graduated in December 2018.
One of the things Janice loves most about working in the field of information systems is being able to communicate with customers in a way that helps them better understand how to use technology. “I like the university setting and helping people. I feel good when I am able to teach people how to use a computer or new technology”.
A few of the many things that Janice helps with on campus, include supporting athletics with their video streaming for games. She also installed gaming software in one of the computer labs to help the e-sports league team for AU.
In addition to being the Assistant Director of IT, she also teaches an undergraduate course on ethics in computer science. “This is a thoughtful class where students are educated on how to make sound ethical decisions. Students learn the importance of creating technology for the good of the community”.
When she is not working, Janice enjoys traveling. She has participated in the Study Abroad program at Augusta University and been to places such as Fiji, Costa Rica, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. She liked New Zealand so much that she recently returned there for a vacation on her own. Some of her other hobbies are baking, spending time with family and friends, and taking photographs of nature.
