The Campus Recreation Center provides opportunities for students to improve their health and wellness. One of the many ways to stay active is through Intramural Sports.
Bryan Waller helps organize Intramural Sports at Augusta University. In his role as Intramural Sports Coordinator, he helps provide opportunities for students at Augusta University to participate in sports, tournaments and special events. He also trains student staff to be officials and administrators for the various tournaments.
Due to COVID-19 Intramural Sports looks a little different this year. Students can compete in solo sports, where social distancing measures can be implemented. Some activities students can get involved with are table tennis, corn hole, punt pass and kick and many others.
There are new procedures in place to maintain a safe environment. For example, face coverings are required at each event and all equipment is sanitized after being used. You can find out more about updated policies and guidelines here.
Bryan recommends to “be cautious when you go out, wear your face coverings, protect yourself and other people. Make sure to take safety into account.”
If you are concerned about your athletic ability, don’t be! You don’t have to be a professional athlete to get involved. The sports are meant for everyone to have fun!
It is a great way to have some friendly competition, meet other students, and create lasting friendships.
