Augusta University’s Preview Day is a longstanding tradition: it’s our opportunity to roll out the “blue carpet” to future Jags and their families, and it serves as our biggest open house-style event. This year’s first Preview Day is on Monday, February 17.
Curious about parking, dining, or the event schedule? Below are answers to the Office of Admissions’ most frequently-asked Preview Day questions:
1. February 17 is a Monday. Will our visitors heavily affect parking or dining?
Potential students and their guests will be directed to park on the University Hall and JSAC side of campus, but we anticipate guests to park across the Summerville Campus.
Preview Day includes a lunch that will be served in the JSAC, so there will be more guests than usual around lunchtime.
We want potential students and their guests to see campus alive, so note they may drive around from campus to campus.
2. Where will the greatest traffic be on campus?
Programming will take place in the JSAC, Maxwell Theatre, Allgood Hall, and University Hall—so that’s where you can expect the most visitors.
In the morning, the entire Preview Day group will be in Maxwell Theatre for a welcome, and then everyone will break out into academic interest groups. All guests will eat lunch in the JSAC, then pick their breakout sessions in the afternoon.
In the afternoon, guests might travel to the Health Sciences Campus to check out housing and the Student Center.
3. What kind of students will be joining us? Where are they from?
We anticipate mostly juniors and seniors, and we’re planning for over 200 students, plus their guests. It’ll be a full house!
Students are mostly from the southeast, with the majority from counties in Georgia and South Carolina. We’re seeing a lot of students from the Atlanta and Savannah areas, but we even have students registered from Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
4. How can the AU family help out at this exciting event?
We want to show these students why it’s great to be a Jaguar—so we encourage current AU students to be as hospitable as they can! For most of our guests, this will be their first visit to Augusta University, so we want to impress.
Try to remember your first time here, and be helpful if people look lost: especially in the morning before check-in.
Students should also show their Jaguar spirit! February 17 is the first day of homecoming, so it’s a great visit day for prospective students to see the campus alive and excited. Remember that we all contribute to recruitment at Augusta University, and that our guests’ experiences help shape the future of AU!
